I introduced my favorite creatures on my “About Me” page, because they are so much a part of me. In a world where so many things go wrong, they are a staunch reminder of what is good. I am not a mushy feely person in any way, and in fact, find people in general to be quite disagreeable and off-putting. But my boys provide so much happiness and joy in my life, that I do not have enough words to thank them for being such bright spots in a world that can be very dark.

Dex (Meatloaf) is basically the neediest creature I have ever met in my life. But, he is also the most loving, and the kind of dog that every person should want in their lives, but that no one truly deserves.
We enjoy going on hikes, sharing meals together, and long walks on the beach. In the times of the Ronalisa, it is safe to assume we spend an inordinate amount of time together. Dex is quite fond of all this extra attention, and I fear for the days when the world becomes a more social place. Not really, since I am not the most social of people, and Dex will always come first.
But he is a saint among men (dogs), and easily the best dog out there. No contest.

Nugget (Meatball) on the other hand, is exactly the cat I deserve. I like to imagine he is in his teenage stage (granted he is only two, but it is in fact, as they say, terrible). He is very “Mom, don’t touch my hair” all the time. I had this stage. My very own mother used to try and touch my hair all.the.time. Sometimes, this would escalate to violence. I suppose I can try and understand the sentiment here.
But, he is also very “Mom, pay attention to me at my pleasure.” His pleasure tends to be at 3AM and then again, more persistently at 4:15AM. Or, better, that wonderful time when you step forth from the shower, and all his hair sticks to you. It is safe to say, our “pleasure” is not the same.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love him to pieces. I’m sure anyone with a teenager would understand (though, childless myself, I am only guessing from what I’ve heard). You love said teenager, but they can be a real pain in the ass. This is Nug, in a nutshell.

As most of my life revolves around them (I literally have them tattooed on me, forever immortalized on my skin), you will likely hear a great many stories about them – if I continue to blog over time. Young, bright cheery me is hopeful that this is the case. More realistic me is terrified by the pressure of having to keep up a blog, so we are just going to pretend that that is not in fact the goal.
Regardless, a great majority of the ramblings section will likely be devoted to them. You have been forewarned. They are, however, very cute so you can take cheer from that fact.
